Irene Hrabica

After I retired from teaching I was looking for a social activity where I could meet new people as well as have some mental stimulation...playing Bridge certainly meets that criteria.

In 2019 when I inquired about having lessons I was told there would be 2 hour weekly lessons for 8 weeks. "What?? That long! It's just a game of cards!!" Little did I know...

I have since found out that playing bridge is not only challenging but very enjoyable. Not the easiest of games to learn ( I was ready to give it away after the first lesson), and with lots of playing variations, it certainly keeps you mentally alert. In the past three years I have learnt a lot thanks to the encouragement, support and advice from everyone at the club.

I have been warmly welcomed into the "Bridge Family" and was happy to join the committee in 2020. I'm glad I didn't give up!
